Microsoft's Ipod BrandingIn the wake of Microsoft’s big announcement today that they will be acquiring Skype to the tune of $8.5 billion, I thought I would share a funny video about the difference in branding and product appeal between Apple and Microsoft. I should preface this video with the fact that I am a complete supporter of the products Microsoft puts out there. I would also be lying if I didn’t say that Apple’s marketing blows them out of the water and this shows why.

Clearly the IPod is one of the top selling hardware products in the music industry and has been for some time, but the reason I like this video is that it shows the simplicity of Apple’s brand. As a website designer, my personal design style has always been somewhat of a minimalist. Nobody exemplifies the the minimalist movement in the 21st Century better than Apple. On the other end of the spectrum you have Microsoft that loves to through language and content at everything they produce. The video demonstrates that well.
